Week 10 Term 1!!
I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Easter break with your families.
I certainly have had my fill of yummy easter eggs.
This week I am still finishing some testing of the children. This is centred around writing and strand mathematics.
Keep up the good work you are doing at home with the spelling and reading. Most of the children have moved in their reading levels so you will notice some different books coming home and slightly more challenging ones.
Keep asking them questions about what they are reading and get them to predict what may happen next.
We have our junior school resurrection liturgy on Wednesday 10:00.
You are welcome to come along some children from room 10 will be involved.
Sports information for term 2 was handed out last week. If you missed it.... see the office staff for one.

WEEK 9! TERM 1
This is a special week as we prepare for Easter. Referred to as holy week ..it is the lead up to Christ's crucifixion -Good Friday, and his resurection -Ester Sunday. The children will be reading and sharing stories about this special week in class and what it all means. Please ask them what they have been learning!
A Big Thank you to all those parents who were able to attend our junior workshop on reading last week. The feedback has been very positive and it seems everyone got something out of it.
I have had a busy weekend in Hamilton spending some time with my family up there. It was nostalgic attending Palm Sunday Mass at my former parish -St Columba, and catching up with some old friends!
Isn't it great to give your children a running commentary of when and where you went to school.
Although once they started to tell me "you've told us this before Mum" I gathered I had said enough!
The school enjoyed a re-einactment of Palm Sunday on Friday. The children enjoyed seeing the donkey enter the school grounds and walk past them. Did you see this in Saturday's paper? Callum (room 7) was the boy on the donkey!
Hey great weather again!
This week I will be testing the children so their spelling and reading will be:
Books from previous weeks and spelling recap on all words so far.
I am adding the essential spelling list to their learning book so go over this with them over the next few months and work on the words they need to practice.
I will be adding some websites and links to the blog soon! These will be useful numeracy and literacy sites for your child.
Also I have been alerted to the fact we have a case of head lice in the class..so please check for those little critters!!
No swimming this week.
Public Holiday Friday - Good Friday
Library Tuesday..please bring back any outstanding library books.

Wow what a great Junior Sports day!
The children participated fully and were kept busy. The junior children were applying skills learnt in fitness and the 'Leg It' programme. What a fantastic parent turnout too.

Thank you also to those who attended our St Josephs Mass on Friday. I was proud of the children's singing and behavior. It was great to acknowledge Sister Carina and all the wonderful work she does as well.
This is the Easter story:
We enjoyed our second visit to Harold on Thursday. We talked about being a good friend and what a good friend would do to help us. The children got to play with animal puppets. These were used to talk to and model some good caring behavior. The children got alot out of this session. It was very apt with what we have been talking about at circle time. Such what to do when our friends hurt us or our feelings. So please talk to your child about these things too. (in the car on the way to school is a convenient way)
Here are some photos of us with Harold!
